Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Elementary Education required; master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of successful elementary teaching experience preferred.
• Experience in independent/private school environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and share weekly lesson plans for classroom instruction with support from the associate teacher.
• Update Seesaw and Veracross pages as directed by administration.
• Monitor and assess student progress using various assessments (e.g., I-Ready, DRA).
• Provide high-quality instruction across subjects using a workshop model.
• Collaborate with the associate teacher in weekly planning meetings.
• Coordinate with the administrative assistant to arrange substitutes and provide coverage plans.
• Grade and assess student projects and assignments.
• Respond to parent emails regarding behavior and academics.
• Participate in grade-level, staff, and department meetings and conferences.
• Create a warm, solution-focused environment during parent conferences.

Position Summary:The successful candidate will maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with students, parents, and colleagues and demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. They will develop and share weekly lesson plans for classroom instruction, update Seesaw and Veracross pages as directed, and monitor student success through various assessments. The candidate will provide high-quality instruction across all subjects using a workshop model, collaborate effectively with the associate teacher through weekly planning meetings, and coordinate with the administrative assistant for substitute teacher arrangements. Additionally, they will grade and assess student work, participate in professional development, respond to parent emails about behavior and academic progress, actively engage in meetings, and facilitate parent conferences with a warm, solution-focused approach.

Specific Duties Include:

• Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Develop and share weekly lesson plans for classroom instruction to be supported by the associate teacher.
• Update Seesaw and Veracross pages as directed by the administration
• Monitor student success with various assessments ( I-Ready, DRA, etc.) regularly.
• Provide high-quality instruction in all subject areas using a workshop model approach to learning.
• Collaborate with the associate teacher positively and effectively by having at least one weekly planning meeting.
• Coordinate with the administrative assistant to secure a substitute teacher and leave substitute plans for planned absences.
• Grade and assess student projects and assignments.
• Answer parent emails regarding behavior and academic progress.
• Actively participate in grade-level meetings, staff meetings, Key Team meetings, and Late Start day activities.
• Provide a warm and solution-focused environment when facilitating parent meetings and conferences.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

Required Skills:

• Prompt and regular attendance is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
• A strong understanding of Workshop Model teaching is preferred
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills
• A willingness and ability to assist in extracurricular activities is preferred

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in Elementary Education preferred
• 3+ years of successful teaching experience at the Elementary level preferred
• Independent school experience preferred, but not required
