Job summary

Lakeville Area Schools is seeking a part-time Education Assistant to support the ESS and special education teams in Minnesota. You’ll assist with instructional programs, lead small groups, provide one-to-one follow-up, re-teach/review, and help keep students on-task using IEP adaptations and accommodations such as note-taking, reading aloud, and assistive tech.

You will also give feedback to ESS instructors about activities, student participation, and behavior, collaborating with a diverse team

Qualifications

• Training or experience working with children in a group tutorial and supervisory setting.
• Interpersonal skills, that lend themselves to a compatible working relationship with students and other adults in the work place as determined by the principal.
• Possess basic academic competencies to provide tutorial assistance to the student(s) as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a contributing member of the ESS and special education team.
• Support academic programs designed by ESS instructors, special and general education teachers including leading small groups, providing one-to-one follow-up, re-teaching/review, and keeping students on-task.
• Provide supports to enhance student success and independence through implementation of IEP adaptations and accommodations (e.g., taking notes in class, reading materials aloud, utilizing technology, implementing organizational tools).
• Provide feedback to ESS instructors and special education teachers about ESS class activities, assignments, student participation, and behavior.
