Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Case Manager I, LTD to manage a caseload of long term disability claims. The role involves applying contractual provisions, clinical data, and policy guidelines to decide on acceptances or denials and benefit durations.

You will communicate decisions clearly and sensitively to claimants while collaborating with teams to manage payments and risk. Hybrid work requires in-office presence at least 2 days per week.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customer service orientation.
• Ability to conduct detailed claimant interviews.
• Solid critical thinking skills and ability to negotiate.
• Demonstrated expert analytical skills with contract language and claim analysis.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsabilités

• Manage and prioritize a group of long term disability claims with proper documentation.
• Obtain pertinent information to evaluate claim credibility.
• Prepare written rationale of claim decisions based on contract provisions and medical/occupational records.
• Process payments by setting up claims on the paying system for timely benefits.
• Assess vocational rehabilitation opportunities working with vocational staff.
• Testify in court cases and provide depositions related to claim disputes as needed.
