Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. The role requires safety inspections, proper documentation, and strict compliance with DOT rules.

The position involves long hours with overnight stays possible, loading/unloading freight and maintaining logs. Endorsements and a strong safety record are essential for consideration.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (Automatic transmission restriction allowed).
• Must have 1 year experience within most recent 3 years, or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 39 CFR or FMC regs.
• LCV states require specific qualifications and certification for linehaul operations.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers that require significant lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays or issues.
• May be required to chain tires or perform other duties as needed.
• May perform duties of a city driver or dock employee when necessary.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
