Job summary

Border States is seeking a logistics-operations professional in Albertville, MN to support the branch in daily operations alongside the Warehouse Manager. You will coordinate zone routings, communicate with drivers, sales staff and customers, and monitor 3rd party freight costs to deliver value for our customers.

The role emphasizes service excellence, teamwork among employee-owners, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards while optimizing delivery effectiveness and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a four-year business, industrial distribution or related degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.
• Prefer a minimum of two years’ experience in leading others.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of prior customer service or sales experience with knowledge of business processes and procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
• Prefer the ability to read, write and speak in English.
• Prefer advanced working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manages team resources, both personnel and equipment, to ensure efficient and safe work environment for employee-owners.
• Establishes clear expectations for team members, fostering open communication, recognizing and rewarding individual contributions and addressing performance issues.
• Identifies training needs for team members, provides coaching and mentorship, supports career development initiatives.
• Communicates with company drivers, sales staff, and customers.
• Establishes and continues to grow Service Excellence through planning, communication, and commitment.
• Creates feasible and efficient zone routings for delivering of goods by drivers.
• Coordinates and communicates with shipping personnel to establish consistent and efficient methods for delivery of customer’s product and goods.
• Coordinates value added services and special programs for strategic business relationship customers.
• Works with fleet repair shops to ensure maximum service and fair market pricing on repairs.
• Works diligently to reduce and monitor 3rd party freight costs (courier fees).
• Ensures all team members have the correct equipment and understand the dangers and expectations/site requirements with each location they deliver.
• Coordinates 3rd party deliveries when necessary.
• Coaches Safety and drive cam events.
• Maintains driver records and DOT regulations.
