Job summary

Volvo Trucks North America’s New River Valley Plant in Virginia is seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to lead the team responsible for keeping materials flowing safely and efficiently through the manufacturing operation.

You will oversee material planning, inventory control, storage, shipping and receiving, and you will manage a team of material handlers while partnering with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing and Maintenance to prevent disruptions and keep the plant running.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business or related field.
  • 4+ years of logistics experience.
  • Experience leading and developing teams in logistics, manufacturing or production.
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of material handling professionals, building a culture of safety, accountability and engagement.
  • Oversee material flow, inventory control, storage, shipping and receiving activities to support efficient production.
  • Ensure materials are allocated, identified, organized and available when needed.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and resolve discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Identify and communicate potential material shortages and work proactively to prevent production disruptions.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Maintenance and other Logistics teams to resolve issues and keep operations moving.
  • Optimize staffing, processes and resources to maximize productivity and meet departmental goals.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery and efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards for housekeeping, organization, safety and compliance within the area.
  • Use operational data and performance metrics to identify opportunities, solve problems and drive sustainable results.
