Job description

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking a Logistics Specialist to join our International Logistics team. The Logistics Specialist will coordinate with steamship lines, Customs, USDA, inspection/warehouse locations, and trucking/dray companies. Extensive communication with customers is required to coordinate shipments and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify that all customer instructions are complete and that necessary permits/licenses are in place to meet country requirements.
  • Book steamship line carriers based on rate, availability, and customer service.
  • Schedule appointments at warehouse facilities considering production schedules, costs, and free days/storage allowances.
  • Coordinate deliveries of full and partial truckloads to trans-load facilities, making decisions based on costs, port congestion, and steamship line rates.
  • Book inland trucking/dray carriers and dispatch, selecting carriers based on rate, availability, and on-time performance.
  • Request credit approval, confirm load details in transportation systems, and release orders to inspection facilities.
  • File shipments on the Automated Export System (AES) to comply with government requirements.
  • Monitor containers during inland and ocean voyages and confirm customs clearance with customers upon arrival.
  • Stay updated on changing government regulations related to international business and markets.
  • Manage daily crisis situations and reschedule shipments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, or 3 years of import/export logistics experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in scheduling and planning is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel are REQUIRED.
  • Ability to work independently and seek guidance when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for company requirements.

The position offers the following benefits and compensation:

  • Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage after 60 days.
  • Sick leave, vacation, and 6 company holidays.
  • 401(k) with company match after one year.
  • Base salary range of $50,000 – $65,000.
  • Participation in the company's annual bonus plan, subject to program terms.

For Colorado applicants, a salary range specific to Colorado is provided, considering experience and qualifications.
