Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Operations, this Logistics position fulfills customer orders for consumables and equipment parts from warehouse inventory, ensuring that products are packaged appropriately and shipped to the customer in a timely, cost-efficient manner. Receives and processes new inventory for the warehouse. Provides logistical support for equipment installations/relocations. Conducts cycle counting activities to ensure inventory accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Shipping and Receiving Operations:
    • Oversee and coordinate all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries and outbound shipments with carriers and internal teams.
    • Ensure proper loading and unloading of goods, verifying quantities and condition against packing lists and purchase orders.
    • Prepare and process shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation.
    • Inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies and report any issues promptly.
    • Organize and maintain the shipping and receiving areas for efficient material flow and storage.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures in the shipping and receiving areas.
    • Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure timely and accurate movement of goods.
  2. Transportation Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and track inbound and outbound shipments (domestic and international).
    • Select appropriate transportation modes and carriers based on cost, transit time, and delivery requirements.
    • Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs forms, and export/import documentation.
    • Monitor shipment status and proactively address any delays or issues.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards.
  3. Inventory Management:
    • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to align supply with demand.
    • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize loss and damage.
    • Participate in regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
  4. Logistics Process Optimization:
    • Analyze existing logistics processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.
    • Develop and implement streamlined logistics procedures and workflows.
    • Utilize logistics software and technology to track shipments, manage inventory, and generate reports.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging logistics trends.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding shipment status, potential delays, and logistical challenges.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve logistics-related issues and implement solutions.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all logistics and shipping/receiving activities, including shipping documents and inventory data.
    • Generate regular reports on key logistics metrics, such as on-time delivery rates, transportation costs, inventory levels, and shipping/receiving efficiency.
    • Analyze logistics data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Essential Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, and/or shipping/receiving operations.
  • Strong understanding of logistics principles, transportation regulations, inventory management techniques, and shipping/receiving best practices.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds of material.
  • Ability to operate forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to stand for extended time periods.
