Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Romulus, MI seeks a Manager Trainee to learn managing a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and top-tier customer service.

You will be trained to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver and company compliance, and collaborate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor and deliver freight and loads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, or related field.
• Willing to travel to account locations and events.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel on special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train and orient drivers and staff on internal and third-party systems.
• Maximize efficiency, measure KPIs, and present reporting and financial analyses.
• Manage inventory, assets and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Handle payroll, budget, driver counseling, invoicing and reports.
• Coordinate with maintenance for preventive maintenance and safety issues.
• Resolve service issues and plan routing with drivers and customers.
• Maintain safety culture and ensure DOT compliance.
• Assign loads and monitor freight movement to meet schedules.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Transportation/Logistics/related field
