Job summary

JB Hunt is seeking a Manager Trainee in Marietta, GA, to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and top-notch customer service.

You will be trained to ensure DOT regulatory compliance, oversee drivers’ compliance with company policies, and coordinate with internal and external contacts for planning, routing, monitoring and delivery of freight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1 year management experience with HS diploma is required.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company events as needed.
• Must be able to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally depending on account assignment.
• Experience managing a team is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safe carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent staff and support projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn personnel management including training/orientation of drivers and employees and systems usage.
• Measure KPIs, prepare customer reporting and financial analysis for presentations at customer locations.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform payroll-related and payroll budgeting duties, driver counseling, and invoicing tasks as needed.
• Oversee yard operations, equipment checks, and maintenance coordination for on-time service.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues and route planning.
• Uphold safety culture with driver safety messages, trainings, and DOT compliance across operations.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements and adjust ETAs.
