Job summary

GRAMMER AG, a global partner to the automotive industry with two divisions Automotive and Commercial Vehicles, is seeking a Logistics Operations Engineer in Tupelo, Mississippi. You will develop strategies to meet customer requirements, coordinate shipments from origin to destination, and manage documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in international business, industrial engineering, or related field.
  • At least 1 year in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of carrier business, domestic and international.
  • Automotive industry experience required.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops short and long-term strategy to support customer requirements.
  • Planning and coordination: shipping from origin to destination, considering transit times, cost, and legal requirements.
  • Documentation: shipping documents, customs paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Transportation management system - support system implementation and rollout.
  • Actively search and implement new carriers/lanes to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery.
  • Problem-solving: address and resolve shipping delays, damaged goods, or other logistical issues.
  • Tracking and monitoring: monitor shipments in transit, update status, resolve issues.

Logistics Operations Engineer
What are your main tasks?
  • Develops short and long-term strategy to support customer requirements
  • Planning and coordination: organizing the shipment of goods from origin to destination, considering factors like transit times, cost, and legal requirements.
  • Documentation: Handling shipping documents, customs paperwork and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Transportation management system - support system implementation and roll out.
  • Actively search and implementation of new carrier/lanes in cooperation to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery.
  • Problem-solving: Addressing and resolving any issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or other logistical problems.
  • Tracking and monitoring: monitoring shipments in transit, updating on status, and resolving any issues that arise.
What are your qualifications?
  • Bachelor Degree - ideally in international business, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or another related field
  • A minimum of 1 year in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of the carrier business, both domestic and international (especially Ohio and Mississippi)
  • Automotive industry experience required
  • Ability to support multiple plants when necessary.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed - approximately every couple months, based on business needs.
  • Experience with SAP preferred
