Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The Logistics Operations Engineer will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound (international and domestic) freight; perform tracking and follow up of shipments and claims under various modes of shipment (ocean, air, postal, truck, and parcel) and perform related activities as required.

A logistics operations engineer manages and coordinates the movements of goods through various transportation methods, ensuring efficient and cost‑effective delivery.

What you will be doing

• Develop short and long‑term strategy to support customer requirements
• Planning and coordination: organize the shipment of goods from origin to destination, considering factors like transit times, cost, and legal requirements
• Documentation: handle shipping documents, customs paperwork, and ensure all necessary documentation is accurate and complete
• Transportation management system – support system implementation and roll out
• Actively search and implement new carrier/lanes in cooperation to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery
• Problem‑solving: address and resolve issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or other logistical problems
• Tracking and monitoring: monitor shipments in transit, update status, and resolve any issues that arise

What you will bring along

• Bachelor’s degree – ideally in international business, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or another related field
• A minimum of 1 year in a similar role
• Strong understanding of the carrier business, both domestic and international (especially Ohio and Mississippi)
• Automotive industry experience required
• Ability to support multiple plants when necessary
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed – approximately every couple months, based on business needs
