What are your main tasks?
- Primary engineering interface for Grammer OEM..
- Abilityto handle multiple tasks, and adapt well to constant change.
- Interface with OEM Engineering,Program Management, Design Studio and Manufacturing to define andimplement interior solutions for center consoles and other interiorplastic parts.
- Work with Program Management tomanage the cost, weight, timing and investment of the components to meettargets.
- Work with internal tooling andmanufacturing groups to establish feasibility and optimize designs forcost, weight, and investment.
- Support sales in new acquisition andgrowth opportunities.
- Negotiate Grammer best practiceswith customer wants in design and manufacturing.
- Create and update engineering openissues list (weekly at a minimum, more frequently depending on projectneeds).
- Create technical specification andrequirements for the products (in compliment with customer specifications,FMVSS/ECE).
- Material selection for components.
- Evaluation of customerspecifications.
- Prepare product presentations forthe customers.
- Lead DFMEA / DFA / DFM teams and documents.
- Support PFMEA / Control Plan /Process Flow – as team member.
- Responsible for GD&T - designand study.
- Responsible for change managementand release design reviews.
- Direct contact with productdevelopment engineering teams at customer.
- Participate in customer step,design, and technical reviews as required.
- Support builds in supplier andvehicle assembly plants as required.
- Evaluation of the test results.
- Follow direction ofsupervisor/manager.
- Support other product lines asrequired.
- Travel: Some travel required toGrammer plants (Mexico and US), Grammer global headquarters (Germany) and OEM plants.
What are your qualifications?
Requiredqualifications
- Bachelorof Science in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum5 years of automotive interior design engineering experience, centerconsole development is ideal
- Workingknowledge of Class A part quality requirements (grain, color, gloss,harmony, gap and flushness, perceived quality)
- Workingknowledge of plastic part design, wrapped and decorative parts, plasticwelding, and assembly processes and tooling construction.
- Abilityto effectively communicate orally and in writing at all levels of theorganization
Preferred Qualifications
- Workingknowledge of NX and CATIA V5
- Workingknowledge of analytical tools (FEA and Mold Flow)
- Experiencein an assembly-manufacturing environment
- Previouswork with OEM studios
- SomeGerman and/or Spanish is a plus
