Job summary

Hill Bros Transportation is seeking an Operations Assistant in Omaha, NE, to support the Operations Manager and contribute to load planning, driver management, and customer service. This role balances daily tasks across planning, tracking, and communications while ensuring accurate data entry and timely information flow.

You'll coordinate swaps/relays, assist with ETA updates, and help maintain system accuracy, shipping details, and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of trucking operations experience preferred.
Load planning experience strongly preferred.
Strong MS Office skills (Excel/Word/Outlook).
Familiarity with TMW or AS400/Innovative Software a plus.
Solid understanding of U.S. geography and shipping regions.
Excellent communication skills and a calm, accountable approach under pressure.
Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

Plan loads strategically to balance profitability with customer and driver needs.
Support assigned drivers with ETAs and pickup/delivery details.
Deliver proactive customer service via phone and email to customers and brokers.
Enter orders and track truck locations; correct system errors as needed.
