Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and best-in-class customer service.

The role includes training to ensure DOT compliance, managing driver compliance and company regulations while coordinating with internal and external contacts for planning, routing, and delivery of freight and loads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations and company events.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations.
• Learn to train drivers and internal staff on systems and procedures.
• Improve fleet operations profitability by measuring KPIs and presenting reports to customers.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver allocations to balance the fleet.
• Perform administrative duties including payroll, budgeting, and invoicing.
• Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and serviced.
• Work with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Promote safety programs to ensure DOT compliance.
• Assign loads and plan routes to meet on-time delivery and customer needs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
