Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY seeks a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts while ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and best-in-class customer service.

You will be trained to ensure DOT compliance and oversee drivers’ compliance and company regulations, coordinating with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of management/transportation/logistics experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations as applicable; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers for seamless new carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to manage personnel including training and orientation of drivers and internal/third-party systems.
• Aim to maximize fleet efficiency and profitability and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
