Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking an entry-level operations role focused on learning to manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, to ensure safe and timely freight movement and top-tier customer service.

You will train to ensure DOT compliance, manage payroll and budgets, coordinate with drivers and carriers, and develop reporting and analytics for performance improvements across routes and accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year of related management/logistics experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer and event locations.
• Able to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willing to relocate regionally based on account assignments.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with drivers and carriers to onboard and sustain productivity.
• Fill in for absences and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train drivers and staff and orient internal and customer systems.
• Measure KPIs, prepare customer reports, and perform financial analysis on-site.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, invoicing, and safety/compliance reporting.
• Oversee yard operations and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Maintain DOT compliance and safety culture; assist with safety training.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight, and adjust for delays or exceptions.
