Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee in Cranbury, NJ, to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and top-tier customer service.

The program trains candidates to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver compliance, and coordinate freight planning, routing, and delivery with internal and external contacts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or HS Diploma/GED with 1 year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers to enable new carrier setup and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and assist on projects related to fleet optimization and profitability
• Learn to manage personnel training and orientation of drivers and employees including internal and customer systems
• Analyze and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis to improve fleet efficiency and profitability
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Perform payroll, budget management, and invoicing tasks; resolve pay issues and analyze P&L statements
• Learn to manage yard operations, vehicle maintenance coordination, and safety compliance
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and route planning
• Support safety culture with regular driver safety messages and trainings
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement to meet on-time delivery requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field

High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
