Job description

Job Overview

$17.00 per hour. This is the fixed entry rate for new hires. Future pay increases are based on performance, growth, and time in role according to the company compensation policy.

Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first weeks you will help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which differs from your long‑term day‑to‑day responsibilities. This hands‑on, team‑first experience brings our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors.

Responsibilities
  • Be reliable, present and punctual for your full shift every day. Proactively communicate and plan ahead if unexpected situations arise.
  • Receive and process shipments: unload incoming furniture and products, including moving large, heavy items safely. Accurately process and document inventory details.
  • Customer engagement: own the customer experience for curbside, carry‑outs, pickups, and returns. Use POS systems effectively to keep these interactions smooth and positive.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy: use scanning technology to record carton‑level details such as product condition, quantity, and store location.
  • Monitor order management: track in‑store and online orders handled through back‑of‑house operations to ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Manage inventory movement: pick, stage, and move products from storage to the sales floor while keeping everything organized and in its proper place.
  • Support operational excellence: work with store teams to resolve inventory discrepancies, maintain stock accuracy, and uphold company commitment to efficiency.
  • Operate as “One Team”: support total store goals by cross‑training across key store functions and flexing where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least six months of experience in a retail backroom, warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment.
  • Physical capability: able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and move items weighing 150 pounds or more with equipment or team lifts; comfortable working in a warehouse or back‑of‑house environment for most of the shift.
  • Technical skills: experience with scanning technology and order management systems is a plus.
  • Adaptability and problem‑solving: ready to adjust to changing processes and take initiative to troubleshoot inventory or logistics challenges.
Additional Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
  • Lifting ability: lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis; some projects may involve heavier items that must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Temperature flexibility: comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
  • Noise tolerance: occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
  • Safety awareness: minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards; must adhere to all safety protocols for lifting, equipment use, and back‑of‑house operations.
  • English fluency in written and spoken communications is essential.
Benefits
  • Competitive pay with regular opportunities for performance‑based increases.
  • Career growth: professional development and advancement opportunities.
  • Health benefits from day one: medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage starts on your first day.
  • Paid time off accrues immediately.
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4 %.
  • Tuition reimbursement after six months of employment.
  • Wayfair employee discount up to 30 %.
  • Parental leave options: paid and unpaid leave plans.
  • And so much more.
