For all new hires, this fixed entry rate applies. Future pay increases are based on performance, growth, and time in role in accordance with the compensation policy. Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first several weeks, you will work alongside the team to help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which will look different from your long‑term day‑to‑day responsibilities. This hands‑on, team‑first experience helps bring our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors to the community and our customers.

Overview

As a Visual Merchandising Associate at Wayfair, you’ll help bring our brand to life, one perfectly placed product at a time. You’ll support seasonal floorsets, signage updates, and daily visual upkeep to create a clean, inspiring, and on‑brand shopping experience. Reporting to the Visual Merchandising Manager, you’ll be a key player in ensuring every corner of the store looks polished, feels welcoming, and tells a cohesive product story. If you love being hands‑on, notice every detail, and thrive in a fast‑moving environment, this could be your perfect fit.

Responsibilities
  • Execute Visual Standards: Support the execution of visual floorsets, maintain accurate signage, and help with daily visual upkeep like folding, steaming, bed‑making, and keeping the store looking its best.
  • Maintain Presentation Excellence: Make real‑time adjustments to displays based on direction from store leaders and visual guides, ensuring everything aligns with brand standards and looks great for guests.
  • Support Merchandise Flow: Replenish the sales floor with key items and ensure displays stay full, shoppable, and aligned with current promotions.
  • Use Visual Tools with Confidence: Use store tech and visual merchandising tools to complete daily tasks, reference floorset plans, and maintain presentation consistency.
  • Engage with Guests: Provide helpful, friendly service while assisting with questions, guiding guests through product stories, or helping with wayfinding and availability.
  • Be a Team Player: Collaborate with store leadership and cross‑functional teams to prioritize store needs, adapt to business shifts, and keep our space guest‑ready.
  • Welcome Feedback: Take coaching in stride, implement visual direction with precision, and stay eager to learn and grow in the role.
  • Stay Nimble: Thrive in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities, new products, and seasonal updates that keep the store fresh and exciting.
  • Operate as “One Team”: Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross‑training across key store functions, including sales and back‑of‑house operations. Flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs, and peak business periods.
Qualifications
  • Retail visual experience: 1–3 years supporting visual merchandising, department resets, or store presentation (required).
  • Customer‑facing experience: 1–3 years in a retail or service role engaging directly with guests (preferred).
  • Tech confidence: Comfortable navigating store technology and visual tools, ready to learn new platforms.
  • Schedule flexibility: Willing to work a retail schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Eye for detail: Notice what others might miss and take pride in executing tasks with care and consistency.
  • Adaptability & professionalism: Stay calm under pressure, adapt to change, and represent Wayfair with warmth, professionalism, and a guest‑first mindset.
Additional Physical And Environmental Requirements
  • Physical activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  • Mobility & movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
  • Lifting ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
  • Vision requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Temperature flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
  • Noise tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
  • Safety awareness: Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards—must adhere to all safety protocols.
