Job summary

Qualifications

  • Currently a Certified Log Scaler.
  • One year of recent experience as a Certified Log Scaler.
  • Proven knowledge of log grades and species identification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to solve simple and moderate math problems.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Measure logs to determine scale (volume) and quality (grade).
  • Pass scale checks conducted by Sierra Pacific and outside inspection agencies.
  • Be proficient in scaling rules and procedures.
  • Safely and efficiently operate log yard equipment, including front-end loader and water truck.
  • Work to support continuous improvement and overall quality efforts.
  • Recognize problems and take initiative to promptly correct them.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Operate hand-held computer.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Certified Log Scaler to work collaboratively with our sawmill in Quincy, California.

About The Position
