Job summary

NJ TRANSIT is seeking a Locomotive Engineer to operate locomotives, conduct pre-trip inspections, and ensure passenger safety. You will monitor track conditions, control speed with throttle and brakes, and coordinate with conductors to relay delays or changes.

The role requires a high school diploma (GED acceptable) and endurance for a 24-hour operation with diverse shifts. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Newark, NJ.

Qualifications

• Some college experience is desirable.
• Customer-facing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives and perform pre-trip inspections.
