Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a Locomotive Electrician Trainee in Atlanta, GA. This hands-on training program combines classroom instruction with field experience to prepare you for electrical maintenance on diesel-electric locomotives.

You'll learn to inspect, repair, and install electrical systems while traveling for training; shifts include nights and weekends. Union membership is required within 60 days of seniority and travel may be extensive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and physical standards.
• Ability to pass post-offer medical examination, including a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad rules, safety regulations, and federal standards.
• Wire, maintain, repair, and install electrical equipment on locomotives.
• Read electrical prints and test circuits using diagnostic tools.
• Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions including charging issues and sensor faults.
• Operate and move locomotives within shop limits as required.
