Pay rate: $39.26 + $4.93 (Health and Welfare)

Job Summary

Provide locksmith-related services, including key services and support to the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Services may expand to additional agencies within the Suitland Federal Center (SFC), which houses the GSA, Department of Commerce Office of Security (OSY), and BLS.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. These duties will be evaluated during the Annual Performance Review.

  • Maintain electronic key cabinets and coordinate with OSY and GSA.
  • Manage key inventory database for all relevant locations.
  • Handle master keys for various agencies and tenants.
  • Maintain a log for key sign-in and sign-out.
  • Ensure minimum two keys per door as standard.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain inventory and manage key cutting, repairs, and security issues.
  • Coordinate with agencies for lock repairs, re-keying, and installation.
  • Fabricate locks and diagnose security system malfunctions.
  • Perform minor repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on locks and safes.
  • Certify and service specific combination locks and electronic locks.
  • Maintain inventory documentation and respond to service tickets.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in master keying and lock repair.
  • Training and certification in GSA-approved locks from Lockmasters Security Institute (Pro Lock I, II, III).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Basic typing skills.
Safety & Health Responsibilities

Adhere to all safety and environmental laws, policies, and practices. Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety training.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, climb, stoop, kneel, walk, sit, and lift up to 75 pounds. Accommodations may be provided for disabilities.

Supervision and Work Environment
  • Minimal daily instruction with general guidance on new tasks.
  • Work environment is usually quiet.
