Job summary

Bliffert Lumber & Design is seeking a Location Manager to lead a professional team and drive revenue growth at a busy retail and lumber yard location in Wisconsin. You will oversee daily operations, oversee inventory, manage budgets, and lead staff to align with business goals.

The role emphasizes staff leadership, vendor relations, and delivering exceptional customer experiences in a dynamic environment with a safety‑minded culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous management experience, preferably in a building materials or hardware store setting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with proficiency in inventory management and customer service.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of retail operations, building materials, and current industry trends.
  • Education: A degree in business management, retail management, or a related field is preferred (though not always required).
  • Attributes: Meticulous attention to detail, collaborative team player mindset, flexible to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong vendor relations to establish effective partnerships with suppliers.
  • Recruit, train, and lead staff members to ensure high performance.
  • Act as a problem solver by quickly identifying and resolving operational issues.
  • Collaborate across departments to stay aligned with changing business needs.
  • Identify and adapt to evolving customer demands and market trends.

What You’ll Do

As a Location Manager, you will lead your team to meet sales targets and drive revenue growth while overseeing the daily operations of a retail and yard location. You will play a pivotal role in staff leadership, inventory optimization, and budget management to ensure the location’s performance aligns with core business objectives.

Sales Leadership & Strategy
  • Guide and motivate your team to exceed sales goals and achieve revenue growth.
  • Implement effective sales strategies in partnership with the marketing team to attract new customers.
  • Analyze daily performance reports to track sales trends and location performance.
  • Foster a superior customer experience that creates \"raving fans\" and long-term loyalty.
Operations & Inventory Management
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure the facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels by collaborating with buyers and the inventory control director.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping and accuracy in inventory management.
  • Develop and manage the financial budget to ensure cost-effective operations and overall profitability.
  • Maintain strong vendor relations to establish effective partnerships with suppliers.
Staff Supervision & Development
  • Recruit, train, and lead staff members to ensure high levels of performance.

Safety & Compliance
