Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Local P&D or City Driver to move freight between service centers and customer facilities. You will sort, load, and unload freight, ensuring timely, safe deliveries with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.

The role requires a valid CDL-A with appropriate endorsements, English proficiency, and experience with tractor-trailers and safety protocols. OD offers a supportive, team-oriented environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Read, write, speak English and perform basic math.
• Must have Class A CDL with double/triple trailers, tanker, hazmat endorsements.
• Must have acceptable MVR and 12 months tractor-trailer driving experience or equivalent training.
• Must be able to operate tablets and follow instructions via radio/phone.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards required.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations.
• Meet medical standards and pass drug/alcohol tests.
• Load and unload freight using pallets, forklift, or manually.
• Secure freight inside trailers and inspect loads for safety.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and documents.
• Be available to work to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
