Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is hiring Local P&D or City Drivers to move freight between service centers and customer locations. You will load, unload, and secure cargo, maintain safety and DOT compliance, and work in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth within OD. The position requires a Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements, a clean driving record, and prior tractor-trailer experience or completion of OD’s

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak English and perform basic math for receipts, maps, signs, and logs.
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A with double/triple trailers, tanker, and hazmat endorsements.
• Must have acceptable driving record.
• Must have 12 months tractor-trailer experience or have completed Old Dominion Truck Driver Training program.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely under DOT regulations and follow hours of service rules.
• Meet medical standards and pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Load/unload freight using appropriate equipment.
• Transport freight across service centers and customer sites within the geographic area.
• Read shipping labels and complete relevant forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers and ensure proper loading.
• Maintain frequent contact with service center personnel and meet schedules.
