Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Local P&D or City Driver to transport freight between service centers and customer locations. You will load, unload, and secure cargo while adhering to DOT regulations and safety standards.

The role requires a Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements, clear MVR, and at least 12 months of tractor-trailer experience or completion of the OD Driver Training program. Excellent reliability and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak English and perform basic math
• Must have a valid Class A CDL with double/triple trailers, tanker, and HazMat endorsements
• Must have an acceptable MVR
• Must have 12 months tractor-trailer experience or completed OD Truck Driver Training
• Must operate tablets when required
• Must have good oral communication skills
• Must follow instructions via radio/phone
• Must meet DOT safety, hours-of-service, and maintenance standards
• Must pass drug and alcohol tests
• Must be at least 22 years old

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer safely within DOT regulations
• Meet medical standards and pass drug/alcohol tests
• Load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack or manually
• Read and interpret shipping labels and complete related forms
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or ropes
• Monitor freight movement and communicate with service center staff
• Be available to meet pickup and delivery schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned
