Job summary

HLEFCU in Hawaii is seeking a Loan Servicing Specialist I to perform core servicing activities for Consumer and Real Estate loans throughout the loan life cycle. You will process servicing transactions, maintain accurate loan and collateral records, support borrowers and internal staff, and help ensure servicing requirements are completed timely and accurately.

Qualifications

• Responds to members, staff, and third-party inquiries regarding existing consumer, home equity, and mortgage loans.
• Maintains complete and accurate electronic and physical loan files in accordance with record retention requirements.
• Assists with HELOC quarterly rate change notices and related borrower communications.
• Performs routine escrow administration, including account maintenance, disbursement processing, and tax/insurance updates.

Responsibilities

• Responds to members, staff, and third-party inquiries regarding existing consumer, home equity, and mortgage loans.
• Processes loan payments, payoff quotes and payoffs, payment reversals, adjustments, and other servicing transactions.
• Establishes and maintains automatic payment methods and related repayment instructions.
• Maintains complete and accurate electronic and physical loan files in accordance with record retention requirements.
• Tracks collateral insurance coverage, updates policy information, and follows established procedures for missing or insufficient coverage.
• Funds newly originated loans in the appropriate servicing system and verifies loan terms, payment information, and required servicing data for accuracy and completeness.
• Administers Skip-a-Pay requests, including documentation, fee assessment, deferment processing, and automatic payment updates.
• Initiate debt protection claims and cancellations in accordance with program requirements.
• Perfects vehicle titles and processes DMV and electronic lien and title transactions.
• Administers HELOC draw-period and conversion maintenance activities.
• Assists with HELOC quarterly rate change notices by preparing and mailing borrower notifications.
• Performs routine escrow administration, including account maintenance, disbursement processing, payment adjustments, property tax and insurance updates, and resolution of routine exceptions.
• Processes private mortgage insurance servicing activities and maintains supporting documentation.
• Coordinates appraisal requests and related documentation with internal staff, appraisers, and appraisal service providers.
• Maintains mortgage servicing information and processes required account maintenance.
• Performs assigned credit bureau reporting activities and researches routine reporting exceptions.
• Maintains supporting documentation and servicing records in accordance with established requirements.
• Completes related duties and assignments as required.
