Job summary

The City of St. Peters is seeking a motivated Transfer Station Loader Operator to support the operation of the City’s new Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station. The role requires hands-on heavy equipment operation and experience in solid waste management or recycling services, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Normal hours are 40 per week with a rotating schedule including Saturdays and some holidays, covering 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of applicable experience.
• CDL Class B with air brakes valid in Missouri or obtainable within 120 days; CDIP within 60 days.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate loaders and other heavy equipment with precision in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform skilled labor in processing and transferring municipal solid waste and recyclables.
• Assist with routine servicing and minor repairs; report maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area by following City safety standards.
• Provide courteous customer service and respond to inquiries.
• Support onboarding and on-the-job training of new team members in safety and equipment use.
