Job summary

Chief Buildings, a brand of Chief Industries, in Grand Island, Nebraska, is seeking a packaging/loader associate to properly package and label finished products and load them onto flatbed or enclosed trailers. Safety and efficiency are priorities, with opportunities to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.

Responsibilities include completing routine paperwork, maintaining quality standards, and performing machine maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to interpret drawings to calculate weights.
• Experience with shipping/receiving processes.
• Experience operating forklifts and cranes.
• Strong math skills.

Description

Responsible for properly packaging and labeling finished products and loading them onto flatbed or enclosed trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carries out responsibilities with safety and efficiency as a priority. Prioritizes the well-being of colleagues and actively contributes to the safety program by collaborating, sharing ideas, and voicing concerns. Adheres to training guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Proactively identifies and addresses potential hazards.
• May operate on or more of the following: overhead crane, forklift, shag tractor and trailer and other material handling equipment.
• Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing the required safety equipment. Keeps work area neat and orderly.
• Properly complete all routine paperwork and computer data entry related to the job responsibilities.
• Adheres to all quality standards and inspection procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance of assigned machines.
• Capable of working independently or as a team with minimum supervision.

Shift

• 1st Shift - 6:00am - 4:30pm

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Required

Must be able to interpret drawings to calculate weights and select appropriate lifting devices.

Requires knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, and operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and industrial tractor/trailer units.

Preferred

Comfortable working at heights up to 14 feet.

Strong math skills are essential.
