Job summary

University of California, Merced is hiring a Residence Education Coordinator (REC) to oversee day-to-day operations of on-campus residence halls, foster an inclusive living-learning community, and support student success. The REC works with staff, campus partners, and residents to implement residence education initiatives and provide crisis response when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field.
• Advanced degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field (preferred).
• At least two years of experience as a paraprofessional or professional in a live-on housing role in higher education or relevant field.
• One year of relevant professional experience in higher education or relevant field.
• 6 years equivalent experience/training/education in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Manage residence hall operations, building management and occupancy.
• Implement check-in/check-out procedures and room change processes.
• Coordinate with facilities, dining and campus safety for safe operations.
• Serve on on-call rotation for crises and emergencies.
• Recruit, train and supervise resident staff and promote staff development.
• Oversee crisis response, conduct and student support activities.
