Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking a Residential Community Director to lead a 440-student first-year community and create a holistic learning environment. You will supervise a leadership team, coordinate wellness/intervention efforts, and liaise with University offices to support student success.

You will design student-led programs, enforce community standards, and manage a modest budget while contributing to a welcoming, inclusive living environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional experience in Residence Life or related higher education area.
• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field required; preferred in higher education or student personnel.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for a 440-student first-year residential community.
• Design vision for student-led development aligned with student learning domains.
• Supervise graduate and undergraduate staff and a community council.
• Maintain intervention/referral system for student wellbeing and safety.
• Develop and enforce student standards; conduct educational interventions.
• Serve on-call for crises and emergencies; be the primary contact during business hours.
• Participate in department-wide project teams.
• Manage budget of approximately $125,000 and track expenditures.
• Coordinate with Housing and Facilities for room inventory and maintenance.
• Participate in staff recruitment, selection, and training.
• Support student leadership organizations and collaboration with university offices.
