Job summary

University of Delaware seeks an Apartment Assistant for the Fall 2027–Spring 2028 period at University Courtyard Apartments in Newark, DE. This live-in student position involves helping with administrative duties and safeguarding residents.

You will support mail operations, reception, and after-hours coverage, while fostering a welcoming community and upholding policies and safety protocols. Cadre work includes duty rotations and crisis assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• Apartment Assistants must have completed a minimum of 24 credits by the start of appointment and have a minimum 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA.
• Any Code of Conduct infractions will be considered prior to offer of appointment. Any infractions that occurred within twelve months prior to the start of appointment or active sanctions could deem a candidate ineligible.
• Positions are only open to students enrolled in the undergraduate colleges of the University of Delaware. All staff members must be fully matriculated in a degree-granting program. Continuing education students and graduate students are not eligible for AA appointment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for resident students and respond to student and facility needs after hours.
• Develop a sense of community and belonging; complete associated administrative responsibilities.
• Distribute and organize mail and packages, answer office phones, respond to questions, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
• Staff the Clubhouse office performing a variety of functions including mail/package delivery and resource distribution; minimum 8 hours per week.
• Inform students about Residence Hall Regulations and Code of Conduct policies and follow up as needed.
• Coordinate with Residence Hall Coordinator and professional staff on important incidents and student wellbeing.
