Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA is hiring married couples as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, provide care and mentorship for approx 8–13 students, and progress to a Placed Houseparent where they live with the same group.

Duties include supervising daily routines, coordinating schedules, administering medications, and leading devotions; nine consecutive days on duty followed by three off, with relocation support and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental and recreational activities.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Flex Houseparents initially support various student homes with a nine-on / three-off schedule.
• Transitioning into a Placed Houseparent role with a stable group of students.
