Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks married flex houseparents to live on campus and care for groups of 8–13 students. You will supervise daily routines, coordinate activities, and support students’ academic, emotional, and social development.

The two-spouse role requires mutual commitment, with nine days on duty followed by three off, then a transition to a placed houseparent. A strong focus on faith-based devotions is included.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person couple married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff as role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental and recreational activities.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initially supporting various student homes with a nine-on, three-off schedule; later transitioning to a placed houseparent role.
• Living and working with the same group of students in their own student home.
