Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, seeks two married houseparents to live on campus and supervise a group of 8–13 students in a home. The role starts with a nine-day-on, three-day-off schedule and may transition to a Placed Houseparent living arrangement with the same group.

The position focuses on supervision, mentoring, and coordinating daily routines, activities, and devotions, with a strong emphasis on safety and student well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental and recreational activities.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initial schedule: nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off.
• Transitioning to Placed Houseparent, living with the same student home.
