Job summary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. They reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for about 8-13 students, fostering academic, emotional, and social growth in a family-like environment.

The role requires a two-person married couple, both aged 27+, and a valid U.S. driver’s license. Benefits include relocation assistance, paid training, and comprehensive health insurance and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person couple role for married couples aged 27+.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student vans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models for students.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship
• Managing household routines and student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
• Driving students to activities and planning development and recreational activities
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting
• Upon hire, Flexible Houseparents initially support various student homes with a nine-on/three-off schedule
