Job summary

University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Residential Belonging Assistant (RBAs) to enhance the on-campus living experience. The role supports belonging, inclusion, and community building through peer leadership and collaboration with campus partners.

As a live-in, 0.50 FTE student employee, RBAs foster safe, engaged residence halls, participate in trainings, attend weekly staff meetings, and connect residents to campus resources.

Qualifications

• Completed two post-high school semesters.
• Be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 at both the time of application and start date.

Responsibilities

• Foster belonging and inclusion through implementing the strategies outlined in the residential curriculum.
• Collaborate with campus partners to provide educational opportunities for residents.
• Collaborate with staff in the residence halls to identify community needs and trends.
• Create rapport with residents by being visible in residential communities.
• Connect residents to campus resources that promote a sense of belonging.
• Facilitate individual and group conversations about identities, perspectives and worldviews.
• Create welcoming environments that support all students.
• Implement events to celebrate heritage months.
• Work alongside the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equal Opportunity Office, Multicultural Services and Programs, the Pride Center, Disability Resource Center, International Student Life, University Health Center, Student Transitions, Student Care and Outreach, etc. to promote belonging and inclusion in the residence halls.
• Complete administrative tasks in a thorough and timely manner.
• Report incidents, policy violations, and facility concerns as encountered through the appropriate system.
• Effectively communicate with staff, residents, and campus partners in a timely manner.
• Attend and be punctual to scheduled meetings, trainings and events.
• Effectively navigate computer systems to meet administrative expectations.
• Appropriately adhere to purchasing policies.
