Job summary

UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services is seeking an Assistant Director of Residence Life for a long-term temporary assignment. This live-in role requires residing in university-provided housing on UC San Diego’s main campus in La Jolla and offers leadership over residential programs and student staff.

You will supervise Resident Advisors, coordinate programming, advise student leaders, manage conduct matters, and collaborate with campus partners to promote a safe, inclusive

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of student advising and counseling techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life practices and principles.
• Ability to manage a broad range of student services within the residential life community and knowledgeable of university services and resources.
• Ability to apply department principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate residential life operations and promote a safe, inclusive living-learning environment.
• Lead recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of Resident Advisors (RAs) and other student staff.
• Advise and mentor student leaders and residential programming groups in developing educational, social, and community-building programs.
• Manage student conduct matters within the residential community and document findings.
• Provide student advising, conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis intervention, coordinating with campus partners and emergency services.
• Assist with residential programming budgets and program assessment.
• Collaborate with campus departments to support daily operations, safety, and effective management of residential facilities.
• Participate in campus-wide initiatives and other residential life activities.
