Job summary

San Diego State University in San Diego is seeking a Residence Hall Coordinator to join the Residential Education Office and help create a vibrant, inclusive living-learning experience for students. This live-in role will mentor staff, supervise 8-22 Resident Advisors, and coordinate programs to support student well-being and success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Services, Counseling or related field strongly preferred.
• Three years of residence hall experience beyond the Resident Advisor preferred.
• Knowledge of student development principles, residential education programs, and student support services in a higher education setting.
• Experience supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating student staff.
• Knowledge of student conduct policies, conflict resolution and restorative approaches.
• Crisis intervention, including on-call duty rotation.

Responsibilities

• Foster a welcoming residential community through student engagement, education programs and activities.
• Supervise and mentor a team of 8-22 Resident Advisors and Community Assistants.
• Provide student guidance, conduct meetings, and referrals to campus support services.
• Coordinate daily residence hall operations including safety and student concerns.
• Serve as Conduct Coordinator and University Judicial Officer and address behavioral concerns.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call duty rotation for crisis response.
