Job summary

Oak View Group (OVG) is seeking a Bartender for USC Athletics venues. You will provide beverage service, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, in a fast-paced environment and maintain strong attendance and availability for events.

The role offers an hourly rate of $20.50 and is tip eligible per the union agreement. Responsibilities include serving beverages, upselling, following regulations, and maintaining a clean workstation.

Qualifications

• Six months or more experience bartending.
• Accurate cash handling skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and long hours.
• Bartending school preferred.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Ability to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
• Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
• Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks, including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol.
• Learn or know various beer, wine varieties & spirits and upsell to guests.
• Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
• Check IDs to verify minimum age for alcohol.
• Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
• Listen and respond to customer requests or concerns.
• De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and involve management/security as needed.
• Contact a manager if unable to resolve issues beyond standard decision-making.
• Request additional products or restock as required.
• Handle cash accurately and manage the issued bank at the bar.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation and keep bar equipment clean.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of bar equipment and organize the cooler.
