Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Little Learners Assistant Teacher at Haselwood Family YMCA in Silverdale, WA. This role supports the Little Learners preschool curriculum, helping plan and implement daily activities while maintaining a safe, engaging classroom environment.

You will communicate with parents and staff, assist with attendance and snack records, support health habits, and participate in staff training. Part-time, up to 25 hours weekly with YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Desire to have fun, engage with children and inspire creativity.
• Ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
• Ability to lead a large group using behavior management skills.
• Pass background and reference checks.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to complete required trainings on day one.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Little Learners staff and participate in recruitment to ensure full enrollment.
• Assist planning and implementation of the daily classroom curriculum.
• Prepare and organize the classroom and materials per curriculum.
• Complete attendance and snack records; assist with family records as directed.
• Oversee health habits (handwashing); administer first aid as needed; ensure safety at all times.
• Work with program standards and support parents as partners in education.
• Interact positively with all children to support learning and emotional needs.
