Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is hiring an Early Learning Assistant Teacher in Tacoma, WA. This year‑round role supports the Lead Teacher at the ELC, helping to deliver the curriculum, manage materials, and engage children in learning and play.

You will participate in family communication, planning, and health/safety activities throughout the day. Qualifications include at least one year in an Early Learning setting, 18+, and willingness to obtain an ECE Certificate.

Qualifications

• One year or more of related experience in Early Learning.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Have or willing to obtain an ECE Short Certificate.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• CPR/First Aid/ TB Test/ Food Handler's Card/ STARS/ MMR vaccine/Merit account required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and move quickly with children.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate in ongoing enrollment efforts.
• Assist with planning and implementing daily classroom curriculum.
• Prepare classroom and materials per curriculum.
• Plan educational meetings with families.
• Record attendance, meals, and health notes; assist with records.
• Greet parents daily and communicate program changes.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and order in the classroom.
• Assist with marketing plans and enrollment efforts.
