Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Little Learners Assistant Teacher to join our team in Silverdale, WA. This part-time role supports the Little Learners program, planning and implementing early education activities for 3- to 5-year-olds, while maintaining safety and promoting child development.

You will communicate with parents and staff, organize materials, and ensure a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Desire to have fun, engage with children, and inspire creativity.
• Ability to lead a large group using behavior management skills.
• Must pass Background and Reference checks per policy.
• Committed to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Must complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Little Learners staff and support enrollment efforts.
• Assist planning and implement daily classroom curriculum.
• Prepare and organize classroom and materials.
• Record daily attendance and assist with records for children and families.
• Oversee health habits and safety checks; administer first aid as needed.
• Work with staff to involve parents in children’s education.
• Interact positively with children to support learning and emotional needs.
