Job summary

Centre Law & Consulting (Centre) has a vacancy for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant II to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) mission.

The role involves reviewing case material, drafting reports, trial preparation, witness interviews, and legal research. A paralegal certificate or equivalent experience is required, with strong communication and organizational skills for a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or HS diploma with at least two years of related experience in a law office or government setting.
• Trial and automated litigation support experience preferred.
• Ability to grasp organization and functions of the customer.
• Knowledge of basic legal research and standard legal citations.
• Excellent oral and written communication, including legal writing.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and databases.
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service; positive and flexible.
• Ability to work in a team under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorney in reviewing case material, gathering and analyzing case material, and preparing a digest of decisions/opinions with legal references.
• Draft, edit, and review non-legal information, create correspondence, and research reports.
• Help prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and creating statistical charts and photographs.
• Interview potential witnesses and prepare summary interview reports.
• Review prepared legal documents to confirm citations and references.
• Attend pre-trial meetings to review case materials and request information to fix deficiencies.
• Prepare summaries of testimony and depositions after/during trial.
• Investigate facts and laws, search public records, and prepare cases and related reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
