Kent Daniels & Associates in Downtown Los Angeles is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in insurance defense, labor and employment, and municipal law through trial.

The role requires 5+ years of civil litigation experience, a paralegal certificate, and a bachelor’s degree preferred. This is a full-time, hybrid position with 3 days onsite after 60 days, 8:30am–5:00pm, in a dynamic law firm environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; paralegal certificate required.
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience to support attorneys practicing insurance defense, labor and employment, and municipal law.
• Proficient with LexisNexis, Westlaw, Adobe, Kofax, and MS Office; strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and summarizing document production, medical/billing records, and corporate financial records.
• Prepare deposition summaries and medical chronology/billing summaries; schedule depositions.
• Search/retrieve county property records and film records; analyze municipal codes and Westlaw case facts.
• Research attorneys and firm settlement ranges; issue subpoenas and notices; prepare trial exhibits.

Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic law firm client!

Job Description:

1. Reviewing and summarizing document production (Claim for Damages, Complaint, Answer, and Discovery Pleadings), medical/billing records, and corporate financial records.
2. Responsible for reviewing depositions and preparing deposition summaries and medical chronologies/billing summaries.
3. Search/retrieve County property ownership and film records.
4. Analyze/collect municipal codes and Westlaw case facts.
5. Research attorneys and law firm settlement ranges.
6. Scheduling depositions of experts, treating physicians, plaintiffs, defendants, and witnesses.
7. Preparing, issuing, and amending deposition notices, subpoena deposition notices, notice to consumer.
8. Scheduling depositions of party plaintiff, witnesses, party defendants, and expert witnesses.
9. Collecting/retrieving records (medical, billing, radiology images, employment, education, civil, criminal, tax, driving, public) including issuing subpoenas to collect.
10. Preparing records acquisition log for tracking records collections and retrieval.
11. Preparing, filing, and serving litigation documents: jury/joint jury instructions, trial exhibit/witness lists, civil subpoena for trial appearance, on-call letter & agreement; and drafting Discovery responses.

Position Requirements:

1. Must be proficient with LexisNexis, Westlaw, Adobe, Kofax, and MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word).
2. Possess excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
3. A background in drafting Discovery responses and complex civil litigation procedure is required.
