Job summary

Quarles & Brady LLP in San Diego is seeking a seasoned Litigation Paralegal to support the Labor & Employment Practice. The role involves coordinating case management from inception through trial with a focus on e-discovery, document review and trial readiness.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years of labor and employment litigation experience, a paralegal certificate, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and e-discovery tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience in labor and employment.
• Experience handling matters in both state and federal courts.
• Paralegal Certificate from ABA-approved program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw and e-discovery platforms.
• Experience with Trial Director, CaseMap, Everlaw and other litigation tools.
• Ability to learn emerging legal tech and AI applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with all aspects of labor and employment litigation from pre-suit to trial.
• Conduct factual investigations and analysis.
• Review, organize and analyze large volumes of documents and ESI.
• Prepare documents for production, Bates-stamping, privilege review and QC.
• Draft and manage service of subpoenas.
• Assist in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trial.
• Prepare exhibits, witness binders, demonstratives and trial materials.
• Manage case calendars, deadlines and docketing per court rules.
• Coordinate with court reporters, vendors and e-discovery providers.
• Support trial prep including witness coordination and courtroom tech.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with all aspects of labor and employment litigation case management from pre-suit investigation through trial and post-trial proceedings.
• Conduct factual investigations and analysis.
• Collect, review, organize and analyze large volumes of documents and electronically stored information (ESI).
• Prepare documents for production, including Bates-stamping, privilege review coordination and quality control.
• Draft, coordinate and manage service of subpoenas.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trial.
• Prepare exhibits, witness binders, demonstratives and other trial-related materials.
• Manage case calendars, deadlines and docketing in accordance with applicable court rules and procedures.
• Coordinate with court reporters, vendors and e-discovery providers as needed.
• Support trial preparation, including witness coordination, exhibit management and courtroom technology setup.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience in labor and employment.
• Strong experience handling matters in both state and federal courts.
• Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw and e-discovery platforms.
• Extensive technology experience with applications such as Trial Director, CaseMap, Everlaw and other litigation support tools.
• Ability to learn and work with emerging legal technology and artificial intelligence applications.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Quarles & Brady offers competitive salaries and great benefits to employees including paid time off, health, vision, dental, 401k, life, disability and much more. Benefit eligibility is dependent on hours. Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience, education and skills of the applicant and other job-related factors. The range for this position for individuals physically located in San Diego is $36.00 - $60.00/hour.
