Job summary

CACI is seeking a Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) to support the Department of Justice's mission, focusing on litigation support and trial preparation in an office setting. The role works with federal prosecutors in the Health Care Fraud Unit, assisting with witness interviews, deposition prep, and in-courtroom support.

Qualifications

• Requires paralegal certificate, or a four-year college degree.
• Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience related to health care, project or document management, policy, research, government staffing, publishing; or equivalent experience.
• Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
• Requires technological proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must understand how electronically stored information works within an operating system including experience effectively managing, organizing, and analyzing digital files and folders.
• Transferable skills related to ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares, and summarizes materials for discovery and motions.
• Summarizes depositions and transcripts; maintains case files.
• Performs simple legal research.
• Indexes, tracks, and controls document discovery.
• Indexes, exhibits, and other materials at depositions and at trial.
• Assists attorneys in courtroom.
• Reviews documents for relevance and privilege.
• Compiles documents for FOIA, production requests, and Congressional inquiries.
