Job summary

Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support an AV-rated business law firm in San Diego on a hybrid, full-time engagement basis. The engagement will be ongoing with an immediate start and strong potential to convert to a permanent placement for the right candidate.

The role covers pleadings, discovery, e-filing in California courts, calendar management, transcription, and trial-material preparation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of California litigation experience including pleadings, discovery, calendaring, and e-filing.
• Paralegal certification preferred.
• Familiar with California state court e-filing procedures.
• Excellent word processing and proofreading; proficient in Word and Outlook.
• Flexible, team-oriented, available to start immediately; strong references.

Responsibilities

• Handle pleadings and discovery from drafting through service and filing.
• E-file documents in California state courts and stay current on local court rules.
• Calendar deadlines and manage docketing across active matters.
• Transcribe dictation for partners.
• Prepare and organize trial materials (exhibits, trial binders, witness/exhibit lists).
• Maintain document organization and privilege logs; handle Bates stamping and document production.
• Liaise with clients, experts, and court personnel as needed.
• Maintain polished, error-free work across correspondence and filings.

Job description

Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support an established, AV-rated business law firm in San Diego on a hybrid, full-time (30-35 hours/week), engagement basis. The engagement will be ongoing with an immediate start, and strong potential to convert to a permanent placement for the right candidate.

The firm handles a broad range of business, real estate, employer defense, and litigation matters for clients across Southern California. This is a hands‑on litigation support role covering the full range of docket and filing work, with some flexibility to help cover additional responsibilities as team needs shift.

What You\'ll Do Includes

• Handle pleadings and discovery from drafting through service and filing.


• E-file documents in California state courts and stay current on local court rules.


• Calendar deadlines and manage docketing across active litigation matters, including covering this function when additional support is needed.


• Transcribe dictation for partners who work in a traditional transcription workflow.


• Prepare and organize trial materials (exhibits, trial binders, witness/exhibit lists).


• Maintain document organization and privilege logs; handle Bates stamping and document production.


• Liaise with clients, experts, and court personnel as needed.


• Maintain polished, error-free work product across correspondence and filings.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of litigation experience in California, including hands‑on work with pleadings, discovery, calendaring, transcription, and e‑filing in California courts.


• Paralegal certification preferred.


• Familiar with e‑filing procedures and court rules in California state courts.


• Excellent word processing skills, proofreading skills, and be proficient in Word and Outlook.


• Flexible and team-oriented, comfortable pitching in wherever the docket needs it.


• Available to start immediately

Compensation

• Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $60,000 - $90,000 when calculated on a full‑time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).


• Benefits: In addition to salary, Latitude Engaged Professionals are W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan. Benefits‑eligible Latitude employees receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D and professional liability insurance. Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and professional expense stipend.
